+ Is this a credit Card?

No. It's a Visa Prepaid Debit Card. You control how much you spend by how much you load on the card.

+ Where can I use my MOMENTUM Visa Prepaid Debit Card?

You can use your Card everywhere Visa debit cards are accepted. You can use your Card to sign for purchases, or you can use your Card for PIN debit purchases. Your Card allows you to visit any ATM displaying the Visa Brand and use your PIN to make cash withdrawals.

+ How do I track my balance?

You can view your account anytime at www.MOMENTUMCARD.com, or by calling 1-855-721-5041; or check your balance in any MONEY MART, LOAN MART OR The Check Cashing Store or wherever MOMENTUM Cards are sold.

+ How will I know my Card balance?

You can check your balance and get details on your transaction history by going online to www.MOMENTUMCARD.com or by calling 1-855-721-5041 and using our automated phone system or speaking to a customer service agent in English or Spanish. The best way to stay informed about your Card and available balance is to sign up for Alerts. Alerts are a free ** service that allows you to always know your balance and be aware of any transactions made with your Card. Alerts can be sent as a text message to your cellular phone and/or as an email. With daily balance alerts you'll always know your available balance and you will receive updates every time you swipe or load your Card. All of the alerts are customizable, including daily balance, reloads, and other convenient updates. To set up your text or email alerts, go to www.MOMENTUMCARD.com call 1-855-721-5041 and customize your alerts.

+ How can I reload my Card?

You can reload funds on your Card at any MONEY MART, LOAN MART or The Check Cashing Store or by using the following options:

  • Direct Deposit
  • Visa ReadyLink (Coming in the first quarter of 2014)
  • Vanilla Reload Network

+ Can the Card ever have a negative balance?

Since your Card is prepaid, you can only spend the available balance on your Card. However, sometimes a merchant will make a mistake and approve a transaction even though your account did not have the funds to cover the full amount of the transaction. Should this occur, the primary cardholder will be responsible for the transaction, and will be charged applicable fee(s). Please see your Cardholder Agreement for additional information.

+ What if my Card or PIN is lost or stolen?

Make sure you keep your PIN in a safe place separate from your Card and do not write it on your Card. If your Card or PIN is lost or stolen, quickly report it and get it replaced by calling 1-855-721-5041. The Visa Zero Liability policy*** can protect you from unauthorized purchases.*** The Visa Zero Liability policy covers U.S.-issued cards only and does not apply to ATM transactions, PIN transactions not processed by Visa, or certain commercial Card transactions. Cardholder must notify issuer promptly of any unauthorized use. Consult issuer for additional details or visit www.visa.com/security

+ What are pending authorizations?

A notice of "pending" means that while we have received notice from that merchant that you spent that amount at their store or on their website, the merchant hasn't yet sent through the final amount for payment. This notice, called an authorization, is done to make sure that your Card is valid and to tell us to put the money in your account on hold until the merchant sends through the final transaction amount for payment. When we receive that final notification (usually within 3-5 days of the purchase) the transaction is considered "settled" or "posted" and the amount of that transaction is taken out of your account and remaining funds released back to your available balance.

For example, if you choose to pay at the pump at gas stations, you will need to have a minimum available balance of $100. If you purchase gas at the pump and the merchant obtains an authorization for $100 and the total purchase comes to $25, the merchant will complete the transaction by settling on the $25. The remaining $75 will be released back to your available balance. Restaurants, hotels and rental companies are other examples of companies that may authorize your Card for funds in addition to the purchase amount.

+ Can I use the Card to make purchases on the Internet or over the phone?

Yes, wherever MOMENTUM Prepaid Debit Cards are accepted for payment. Please wait 24 hours from time of purchase before using your temporary Card for online purchases.

+ Can I use the Card for online gambling?

The MOMENTUM Prepaid Debit Card will not be accepted for online gambling transactions.

+ Can I use my MOMENTUM Visa Prepaid Debit Card for car rentals, hotel stays, and dining out?

If you use your Card at a restaurant, a hotel, or for similar purchases, the merchant may preauthorize the transaction amount for the purchase amount plus up to 20% or more to ensure there are sufficient funds available to cover tips or incidental expenses incurred. Any preauthorization amount will place a "hold" on your available funds until the merchant sends us the final payment amount of your purchase. Once the final payment amount is received, the preauthorization amount on hold will be removed. It may take up to seven (7) days for the hold to be removed. During the hold period, you will not have access to the preauthorized amount

+ When can I start using my Momentum Card?

You can start using your Momentum Card at the time of purchase. The Momentum Card is activated at the store. Note: Some retailers may hold funds for up to 24 hours after time of purchase.

+ Can I buy a second Card for my wife or family member?

No. Any Card that you purchase must be in your name. If your wife or family member wants a Card, they will need to come in to any MONEY MART, LOAN MART or The Check Cashing Store and show proper identification to get a Card.
